Art Journal Series 1: New Season
Hello Friend!
Let me tell you how this mini series came about: I am currently in this absolute uncomfortable place of change in my life. It’s hard and super annoying and I have no idea how to handle it all… so while I am waiting for things to pan out, I decided to make art journals. Doing an Art Journal Workshop has been on my mind and to do list for a while but the commitment to make that many pages is just a bit too much for my mindset right now. I get overwhelmed easily…and I know myself good enough to understand that I need bite size goals to do everyday to keep moving forward.
The other thing that happened is that a good friend (Hello Killeen!!) asked me to do some real life Art Journaling Classes. The first one was successful and the girls loved it which lead to a second one (also awesome) and now the third one is being planned and I have invitations from splurge groups and all in all it’s like God is not letting me abandon art right now. I am learning so much from teaching Art Journaling in real life. The thing that is most obvious to me is how difficult it is for us to let go. That’s why I am starting to say certain things more and more like:
“Just turn the page”
“It’s the process that is important”
“This is only an exercise in creativity”
“The journey is more important than the destination”
“There’s no right or wrong in art”
You will hear me talk more about these ideas in the videos.
Please watch my little hello video where I talk about copying and how it’s totally ok and also the reason behind it. I also like to make these little hello videos so that you can see me and recognize there is a real (blonde haha) person behind the hands painting on the pages.
The class works like this:
There are 4 videos in the lesson called The Art Journal Videos. I also included a gallery of the page I made below the video: a collection of images and detail shots for you to see as closely as possible what’s going on on each page.
In the second lesson I added all The Art Journal Downloads. I created 4 flower bouquets for you to download and print. If you don’t have a fancy machine to cut out the images, just print the PDF’s and hand cut the illustrations out. You cant even have to do it neatly as in the videos I will show you that my whole goal is to integrate the illustration into the pages so it looks like it was painted on vs pasted on. Please note that you can also take the PDF’s to a copy centre like Staples and ask them to print it for you on their best (thickest) quality card stock. This works really well.
I also included a Print and Cut video tutorial for you in the Download lesson.
The downloads work like this: PDF’s for easy printing. PNG’s if you are a digital designer and want to use them in digital designs. And then there’s a Print and Cut Folder where you will find all the files you need to use them with the machines (Cricut and Silhouette Cameo)
I am teaching 4 pages using the same techniques. For this class I am working with acrylic washes in the backgrounds and then printing with stencils on the page using wax paper.
Thanks for buying this little class. I appreciate it very much. For me creating these pages is a way to stay sane in this time of change. That’s why I call Series 1 NEW SEASONS.
If you like it, I will consider making more Mini Series Art Journaling classes.
Sending you love!
